Shop Smart and Save With Resale

I’ve always been a frugal shopper. I could never understand why someone would want to buy a new article of clothing, take it home and wash it, and then feel happy they just spent 30-75% more than if they would have bought that same item at a resale or consignment shop. In fact, growing up, we didn’t want our clothes to look “brand new” because it just wasn’t cool. Distressed jeans, broken in sneakers, a worn bomber jacket… those were the things that were cool! That weird blue colored pair of brand new jeans and shiny white sneakers were not.
 
Now, years later, we find ourselves in a “mass consumption society” with shoppers who have a “throw away” mentality, fueled by the open markets in China, South America and other 3rd World economies. Advertising entices you to BUY BUY BUY, makes you feel inadequate, and dares you to be “obsessive about shoes” or that you “must have one of each color.” It’s a never-ending cycle that usually leaves us all feeling a little bit worse and leaves our wallets much worse for wear.
